You can also start asking for people to write recommendations for you on google maps. That way, when people search, they will see you have positive reviews and will call you. Also build a website and include in the name what city you are in and makeup artist. Google picks up key words faster from the title of the website. Once you get going, the referrals will come. Q. I'm applying to a few universities to do a diploma as a makeup artist. They are all asking for a portfolio, and i'm not sure what to include. Should i just include photos of models with their makup done by me? Or should i also put in some sketches and drawings? Should the photos be professional looking, or is it ok to just use my camera with a plain background? How many pictures should i include? I would do what ever you can because they are suppose to help you develop a real port. So if you have face charts with a snap shot of the finish product and a few shots of before and after. Do some fresh face looks, crazy looks and just regular looks. But you can also ask the school to see what they are looking for. The may want to know what you can do so they can put you in different class so you dont want to do this wrong.
