Nounarchitects
From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. An architect is trained and licensed in the planning and designing of buildings, and participates in supervising the construction of a building. Etymologically, architect derives from the Latin architectus, itself derived from the Greek arkhitekton (arkhi-, chief + tekton, builder), i.e. chief builder. A looser usage of Architect is: the translator of the building user's requirements of and from a building into an inhabitable environment. Moreover, the words architect and architecture are used as metaphor in the disciplines of engineering, e.g. computer software architect; however, in some of the world's jurisdictions, the professional and commercial uses of these etymologic variants, are legally protected from such loose denotations. Professionally, an architect's decisions affect public safety, and thus an architect must undergo specialized training consisting of advanced education and a practicum (or internship) for practical experience to earn a license to practice architecture. The practical, technical, and academic requirements for becoming an architect vary by jurisdiction (see below). From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License What are the long canisters that some architects use to roll their drawings up in called? Q. I've seen some people carrying them before, and it's not just architects but usually business people in general. Sometimes they come with a shoulder strap, and it's a long canister that's probably somewhere around three feet or so? They have a lid that caps on or screws on and the drawings or charts are usually rolled up and placed inside for storage and then they can be taken out later. What are those called? Do they have a name? Thanks to anyone that can answer. Asked by Monyluv - Thu Dec 10 23:19:50 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments What is the articulation of space in architecture? Examples of architects using this pre and post 1965? Q. I need to know what the meaning of articulation of space is in architecture and some architects, one pre 1965 and one post 1965. Asked by seepal - Fri Apr 4 05:47:57 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Articulation, in art and architecture, is first of all a joint. Expanding from that definition, articulation is also a method of styling the joints in the formal elements of architectural design. Examples on link below. Q. What size and type of monitor would be suitable for a architects computer? also what software and hardware would be good for admin staff in my office? Asked by beaverman39 - Fri Dec 12 08:01:40 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. I would have to say for architecture, the answer is "the biggest monitor you can afford." There are only a few professions where screen real estate is an absolute must, and this is one of them. I would also strongly suggest considering multiple monitors with something like a pair of 24" monitors (1920x1200 resolution) or one 24" to 30" monitor as a primary display and a smaller 19-22" monitor as a secondary display. (The secondary display could always be added later.) The primary is used to display the work at hand and the secondary display is for things like toolbars (a la Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator), email, word procssing, web browsers, etc. That way the work can be kept at the front while reading whatever specifications are pertinent… [cont.] Answered by Capricorn1 - Fri Dec 12 09:16:21 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "architects" Architecture is the art and science of designing buildings and structures.
