From Google News Search: "List of sculptors" What do you think the order of this list should be? (From most influential to least)? Q. Ok, this is for a school project, and we have to make a top 20 list about the most influential people that lived before 1500. I'm not asking for you to do my homework; I just want to know what other people think, and maybe it could lead me to a final order. This is the order of the people I chose so far: 1)Jesus of Nazareth Europe Inspired Christianity 2)Mohammad ibn Abdull h Middle East Inspired the Islam religion 3)Abraham Middle East Founding patriarch of Christianity, Judaism, and Islam 4)Gautama Buddha Asia Founded Buddhism 5)Moses Middle East Released the Jewish people from slavery, led them to Israel, and wrote the Torah. 6)Caesar Augustus Europe Emperor of the Roman Empire 7)Confucius Asia Chinese… [cont.] Asked by Ratfuzz - Fri Aug 15 00:23:19 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. I would put Abraham at the top, as without him there would be no Judaism, Christianity, or Islam. I would also put Moses above Buddha, because as far as I know, there haven't been any worldwide conflicts over Buddhists specifically because they are Buddhists. I would also move Columbus way up the list, as many wars would have turned out differently if there was no United States. Answered by grannynightgown - Fri Aug 15 01:04:02 2008 Can anyone help me annotate this poem? Q. Please answer these questions: 1. What do you think this poem is about? 2. What meaning does the poem have beyond the literal meaning? Form: Diction: Imagery: Details: 3. What is the speaker's attitude? How does the speaker feel about himself, about others, and about the subject? 4. Reanalyze the title on an interpretive level. 5. List the subjects and the abstract ideas in the poem. Ozymandias I met a traveller from an antique land Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone Stand in the desert. Near them on the sand, Half sunk, a shatter'd visage lies, whose frown And wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command Tell that its sculptor well those passions read Which yet survive, stamp'd on these lifeless things, The Hand that mock'd [cont.] Asked by Irvin - Fri Jun 5 00:36:07 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Since this poem is a classic for all time, I'll just refer you here. This essay is quite good and will get you in the right direction. Be sure (as your assignment tells you) to focus on the literal and symbolic levels. A traveler "from an antique land" tells the speaker of this great ruined statue in the desert somewhere (Egypt is a good bet). The statue is broken into massive legs, a head, and an inscription. Besides them, there is only a long stretch of sand. What do you make of this? The mighty king (and the empire) to which the inscription refers are long gone and, therefore, the key source of irony in the poem, considering the grandiose claim in the inscription. Best wishes!
