How can I more easily hit B flat 3 on the bassoon?
Q. Everytime I play, I have trouble hitting the B flat right above the bass clef staff. I'm doing the proper fingering, but it always wants to drop to the B flat one octave down. Any advice as to how I can make it stay at that pitch?

A. See if the tiny hole in the bocal is plugged. Open it with a toothpick or GENTLY with a needle. If it's not that, then it's your reed.
